FAQ

Cleaning

  • Cleaning your solar system when it gets dirty can greatly increase its performance and your electricity savings, as it’ll remove dirt, pollen, and other debris that collects on top overtime, decreasing the amount of sunlight it receives.

  • We recommend cleaning your solar system whenever it’s dirty with a clear layer of dust, pollen, or debris on top, which is typically 1-3 times/year, depending on where you live and the environment around.

Protection

  • Bird spikes prevent pigeons from landing on the ledges of your roof, nesting, and causing damage to your tiles or solar system.

  • Critter guards stop birds and small creatures from getting underneath and chewing the wires, nesting, leaving droppings, or getting stuck and dying, which can cause significant damage and fires with costly repairs.

  • Your inverter is the brain of your system. It converts the sunlight your panels collect into usable electricity for your home. Installing a cover protects it from long-term sun exposure, which can decrease its life and performance or cause it to burn out and need replacement.

  • Panel coating helps repel dirt, dust, oil, and water, and prevents against chips, cracks, and scratches, keeping your system cleaner and safer for longer!

Repairs

  • Your installer should have set you up with an app to monitor its performance through your inverter. The most common inverter brands are Enphase, SolarEdge, and Tesla.

If you didn’t receive an app, contact your installer.

If your installer is out of business, contact your inverter’s manufacturer.

If you don’t know your inverter’s manufacturer, schedule an appointment with us and we’ll assist you!

  • If your installer is in business, contact them and they’ll help you.

If your installer is out of business, schedule an appointment with us to see what’s wrong, and we’ll repair or replace any parts necessary to get it running again!

  • If your installer goes out of business, your system will still function and you’ll maintain the manufacturer’s parts and performance warranties for your equipment, but you’ll lose your installer’s warranty for labor and roof.

If your financier goes out of business, your financing will be sold to another company and you’ll continue making your monthly payments as normal while maintaining your equipment and installer warranties.

Going Solar

    • Pay Cash: The same as buying a house or car in cash. No monthly payment. Requires a down payment. Qualification is paying the system in full after installation. Guaranteed added home value. Doesn’t affect DTI.

    • Finance a Loan: The same as buying a house or car with a mortgage or car loan. Fixed monthly payment that offsets your electricity bill. No down payment required. Qualification based on credit, DTI, and household income. Guaranteed added home value. Shows on DTI.

    • Sign Up for a Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA): Similar to buying your electricity from the utility company, but using a solar system with a monthly payment that offsets your electricity bill. No down payment required. Qualification based on credit, DTI, and household income. No added home value until paid off after year five. Doesn’t affect DTI.

  • If you live off-grid, you’ll need batteries.

If you live on-grid, you don’t need batteries and can use your utility company’s net metering program to earn credits on your bill.

If you live on grid but you’d like off-grid back-up in case of power outages, then you’ll need at least one or more batteries, depending on your system size and consumption.
